Dr. Jerisa and husband Dr. Adam Berry to welcome first child
For more than three years, Dr. Jerisa and her husband Dr. Adam Berry experienced the stressful effects of infertility. Having gone through both Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) twice, the path to parenthood became an ultimate test of perseverance. Dr. Jerisa ended up undergoing fibroid surgery, and later on her pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. After some time, the fibroids grew back, and she was advised by her doctor that it would be safer to use a gestational carrier rather than risk her life carrying. Upon this advice, Dr. Jerisa sought the help of a surrogacy agency to locate a gestational surrogate. Come July 25th, they will welcome their baby boy into this world.
On June 16th, 2018 Dr. Jerisa Berry will throw her first baby shower, the theme being “From Infertility to Expecting” and #NeverGiveUp. It is this journey that ignited her passion to help other women–and the reason why the Secure Your Fertility APP came into existence.
“Words cannot describe how thankful I am for the selfless women who choose to carry another couple’s child. These women give much needed hope to those struggling with infertility and assure them that they can, one day, become parents,” says Dr. Jerisa.
About seven million women in the United States struggle with infertility. That is, over ten percent of women have tried to get pregnant, with or without fertility assistance, and have been unable to conceive. These numbers are not just statistics, they are incidences of stress, anxiety, uncertainty, and delayed motherhood. Dr. Jerisa Berry was one of these women. As a result, she made it her life’s mission to raise awareness and help women facing infertility overcome their obstacles. It is also the reason Secure Your Fertility was initiated: to instill hope and to educate women about infertility treatment options.
The SYF APP works by allowing users to schedule a test to find out what their AMH levels are from the comfort of their own home. The AMH (Anti-Mullerian Hormone) helps women find out how many eggs are in their ovarian reserve, allowing them to accurately pinpoint where they stand on their biological clock in terms of conception. The APP is easily accessible and available to women from diverse backgrounds and economic statuses, with no insurance required to take the test. Currently, more than three thousand women have downloaded the SYP APP. Although headquartered in South Florida, Dr. Jerisa has gained national attention, conducting interviews in Atlanta, Washington D.C. and Miami.
Now, under Secure Your Fertility, Dr. Jerisa has launched the #NeverGiveUp campaign as testament to her personal journey and as a beacon of hope. With her extensive knowledge on infertility–and new title of an expecting mother– Dr. Jerisa wants to share her optimism and insight with women in hopes of creating a united front that stands up to infertility.
